The young, supertalented English rider Roger Williamson dies in his 2nd F1-race during a tragical crash, while his race-colleague David Purley tries in vain to save him. When afterwards it appeared that Williamson was unharmed, but died in his car because he got asphyxiated, criticism on the slow reaction of the marshalls got even more important. In 1985, Purley got killed himself in an acrobatic plain crash.

Images of the fatal accident of Piers Courage. The race was won by his good friend Jochen Rindt, who crashed and died a few weeks later in Monza. The same year, Rindt posthumous still got the title of worldchampion. Courage was the first pilot that - in 1969 - raced for Frank Williams in Grand Prix racing.
