Day 2 - Road Tour - 350 km

Laon Cathedral

After 145 km we enter the old town of Laon. This capital of the department of Aisne was built as a fortified town on a single hill in the Middle Ages. In the old town within the fortress, the buildings from the Middle Ages still stand. The famous Laon Cathedral was built from 1155 to 1235, after its Romanesque predecessor burned down, and is one of the most important early Gothic cathedrals in France. Due to its position on the fortress, this cathedral can be seen from a great distance. As we approach Laon we see it in the distance to our right.

72 km after leaving the medieval city of Laon, we arrive @ the historic Circuit Reims-Gueux.

The historic Circuit of Reims-Gueux

The Reims-Gueux Circuit was a Grand Prix street circuit from 1926 to 1972.
It became known as one of the fastest of its time, due to the two long straights it contains.
This resulted in numerous famous slipstream fights.

The main events were the Grand Prix de la Marne (13 editions between 1926 and 1952), the Grand Prix de France (16 editions between 1932 and 1966) and the 12 Hours of Reims (8 editions between 1953 and 1966).

1966 French Grand Prix

A few of the most known pilots who won races @ the Circuit Reims-Gueux: François Cevert (F2), Jackie Stewart (F2 and F3), Jean-Pierre Jabouille (F3), Jochen Rindt (F2), Jack Brabham (F1), Jean-Pierre Beltoise (F3), Jim Clark (F1), Bruce McLaren (F1), Stirling Moss (F2), Maurice Trintignant (F2), Juan Manuel Fangio (F1), Alberto Ascari (F2), Manfred von Brauchitsch (GP), Tazio Nuvolari (GP), etc.

After this stopover we continue our route through a magnificent section of the "Route touristique du Champagne".

Route touristique du Champagne

After 130 km of beautiful route, we arrive @ Domaine de la Forêt d'Orient ****.

After a refreshing shower we enjoy a nice apero together, followed by a delicious multi-course menu.

Day 3 - Road Tour - 350 km

After a delicious breakfast we start our road tour of today.

Start Day 3

An hour after lunch we come across the next attraction on our route: Château de Commarin.

Château de Commarin

This castle has been in the same family for 26 generations and has never been sold. It has been listed as a historical monument since 1949.

Château de Savigny-les-Beaune

Before meeting again for the apero and dinner, we will stop for lunch, and - shortly before the end of the tour - to visit a very special location that cannot leave anyone unmoved: Château de Savigny-les-Beaune.

Château de Savigny-les-Beaune

The collection of racing cars, fighter jets, motorcycles, etc., which are privately owned here, is unimaginable and unique in the world.

This is the only privately owned F16 in the world

After this fantastic visit, it is less than half an hour's drive to our final destination of the day: Hôtel-Golf Château de Chailly ****.

Day 4 - Driving on Track

After three already unforgettable days, it is now time for the icing on the cake: 5 sessions of 20 minutes on the legendary DIJON PRENOIS circuit!

The Dijon Prenois Circuit has existed since 1972.

Between 1974 and 1984 the Grand Prix of France Formula 1 has been hosted 5 times by the track of Dijon Prenois.
The winners were: Ronnie Peterson from Sweden (1974), the American world champion Mario Andretti (1977), the Frenchman Jean-Pierre Jabouille (1979), the French quadruple world champion Alain Prost (1981) and the Austrian triple world champion Niki Lauda (1984).

1981 | Dijon Prenois | Alain Prost | GP de France

Also the Grand Prix Formula 1 from Switzerland has been organized twice at Dijon Prenois.
Those have been won by the Swiss Clay Regazzoni (1975) and the Finnish world champion Keke Rosberg (1982), father of Nico Rosberg, who became world champion in 2016, 34 years after his father.

1974 | Dijon Prenois | Ronnie Peterson | GP de France

The track became world famous in 1979, due to the heroic battle - for second place during the Grand Prix of France - between the Canadian Gilles Villeneuve - father of Jacques Villeneuve, who became world champion in 1997 - and the Frenchman René Arnoux.
