This challenging track of 4,3 km has a lot of differences in height and turns with different gradient : fly a round. It seems to be developped by a group of motorcycle-fanatics, advised by Sammy Davis, winner of the Le Mans 24hrs of 1927 with a Bentley. Other sources mention the famous trackbuilder John Hugenholtz as the designer. He also seems to be the owner of the track and he laid the foundation of the tracks of Suzuka in Japan, Jarama in Spain and Zolder in Belgium.

In 1948, the first car- and motorcyclerace take place. Between 1952 and 1985, over 30 F1-GP were organised.

The list of different legendary carracers that won one or more Formula 1 Grand Prix is impressive.

We think i.a. of 5-times worldchampion Fangio, 3-times worldchampions Jacky Stewart, Niki Lauda & Nelson Piquet, 2-times worldchampions Alberto Ascari, Sir Jack Brabham en Jim Clark, the worldchampions Jochen Rindt, Graham Hill, James Hunt, Mario Andretti en Alan Jones. Also "Mister Le Mans" Jacky Ickx, Sir Stirling Moss, Graaf Wolfgang Von Trips, Didier Pironi and René Arnoux won races at Zandvoort.
Since the beginning of the nineties, the most important event of every year still is "the Masters of Formula Three Championship", also known as the semi-official F3 world championship. Other important events are i.a. the yearly A1 Grand Prix and the world famous DTM (Deutsche Tourwagen Meisterschaft).
