Detailed programme

The Tour des Alpes 2026 has been crafted from the very essence of our most celebrated edition to date: the Tour des Alpes 2022, still regarded as our finest road tour ever. From those legendary routes, we have hand-selected the most spectacular mountain passes – this time driven in reverse – to deliver an entirely new and deeply immersive driving experience.

Expect true icons of the Alps: the epic Col de la Bonette (2,715 m), the dramatic Col d’Izoard (2,360 m), the legendary Col du Galibier (2,642 m) – the undisputed giant of cycling history – and the majestic Col de l’Iseran (2,770 m).

As an exclusive highlight, and for the very first time in our history, we will also devote half a day to exploring the wild, majestic and utterly breathtaking landscapes of the French Vercors – a cinematic setting of rare beauty.

With the sole exception of the château where we gather on Sunday afternoon, all hotels selected for this edition are entirely new, carefully chosen to match the character, elegance and exclusivity of the journey.

Sunday 6 Sep 2026

Château de la Commanderie

We will gather on Sunday afternoon between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm at the charming Château de la Commanderie***.

The château on Google Maps

The Château de la Commanderie*** is a historic estate full of character, located on the outskirts of Grenoble and surrounded by greenery and tranquillity. With its elegant architecture, warm atmosphere and refined cuisine, it offers the perfect setting to begin – or conclude – a road tour in a spirit of calm sophistication and understated elegance. It also holds a special place in our history, as this is where we brought our Tour des Alpes 2022 to a close four years earlier.

Aperitif on the château terrace

During a relaxed welcome aperitif, we will introduce the 30 participating teams, before continuing with a shared dinner in a convivial atmosphere.

Château de la Commanderie - Private parking on site

After our departure from the Château de la Commanderie***, we will spend the first half day driving through the cinematic landscapes of the French Vercors, with the spectacular Combe Laval as the absolute highlight.

Combe Laval

The roads carved into the rock faces and the vertiginous panoramas make this stage feel almost unreal.

Typical atmosphere of the Vercors

Today, we will also tackle the Col Gaudissart, Col de la Machine, Col de Carri, Col de Proncel, Col de Saint-Alexis, Col de Reychasset, Col de Menée, Col du Prayet, Col du Thaud, Col Saint-Sébastien, Col des Rioupes and the Col du Noyer.

Entrance to La Robéyère

We conclude the day at the magnificent Hôtel La Robéyère****, an elegant four-star retreat where alpine charm and contemporary comfort blend seamlessly. With its peaceful setting, refined rooms and sophisticated cuisine, it is the perfect place to unwind after an intense day of driving, surrounded by the grandeur of the Southern Alps. 307 km - 4 road books - 3 official stops

Lac de Serre-Ponçon

This morning begins along the shimmering shores of Lac de Serre-Ponçon, which we will cross twice, including once over a truly majestic and awe-inspiring bridge.

The impressive bridge

The second great highlight of the morning is the ascent, followed by the descent, of the legendary Col de la Bonette. More than a mountain pass, it is a monumental high-alpine route that gives the sensation of travelling far above the world below.

On the way to the summit of the Col de la Bonette

With its summit rising to well over 2,800 metres, the road gradually draws you away from the green valleys below and into a raw, mineral landscape where trees disappear, leaving only rock, sky and silence. The curves are long and flowing, the views ever more expansive. With every kilometre, a new panorama unfolds — jagged ridgelines and seemingly endless horizons.

Col de la Bonette - Road to the summit

At the summit, an almost otherworldly atmosphere prevails: thin air, intense light and a sense of grandeur that puts everything into perspective. You do not merely drive through it — you experience it, both as a driver and as a human being.

Col de la Bonette - View from the summit

This afternoon, five further mountain passes await us, with the Col de Vars and, above all, the Col d’Izoard standing out as the most remarkable.

Return from the Col de Vars

The Col de Vars is a pass that invites you to drive. Broad, rhythmic and fluid, the road winds its way upward through open alpine meadows and light forests, with long, perfectly readable curves that allow for a natural, flowing pace. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular: wide-open vistas, crystal-clear air and a sense of space that both relaxes and inspires. Vars is elegant, accessible and pure driving pleasure.

Col d'Izoard

The Col d’Izoard is its perfect counterpoint: raw, dramatic and intense. After a classic ascent, the landscape suddenly opens onto the Casse Déserte — an almost surreal mineral world of jagged rock spires and pale scree slopes, as if you were driving onto another planet. The road cuts through this scenery like a thin ribbon, surrounded by silence and untamed beauty. Here, it is not about speed, but about sensation. The Izoard leaves no one indifferent; it makes a lasting impression, every single time.

This evening, we stay at the Grand Aigle Hôtel & Spa****, an elegant four-star hotel in the heart of Serre Chevalier, where contemporary comfort and refined alpine character blend in perfect harmony.

With its warm atmosphere, stylish rooms and extensive wellness facilities, it provides the perfect retreat to fully unwind after a day spent conquering legendary mountain passes.

Wednesday 9 Sep 2026

240 km - 4 road books - 3 official stops

This morning, five more mountain passes lie ahead, including the Col du Galibier and the Col de l’Iseran.

En route to the summit of the Galibier

The Col du Galibier is a monument cast in asphalt. Long, majestic and unyielding, it rises from the valleys below with an ascent that gains altitude slowly yet relentlessly. The road feels solemn, almost ceremonial, as though you were stepping onto a stage steeped in history. At the summit, vast panoramas unfold across glaciers, jagged ridgelines and deep valleys, often bathed in the stark, crystalline light of the high Alps.

Breathtaking panorama

This is not a pass you simply “tick off”, but one that stays with you. The Galibier radiates power, tradition and grandeur; a place where driving automatically gains meaning.

The summit of the Galibier

View from the summit of the Galibier

Since 1911, the Col du Galibier has also been one of the most legendary climbs - and descents - in the history of the Tour de France.

TdF 2011 - Descent on the side we will be climbing

The Col de l’Iseran is different: lighter, more open, almost ethereal. As the highest paved mountain pass in Europe, it carries you ever higher, until the world below grows smaller and quieter. The landscape is wide and open, with long sightlines, high-altitude valleys and a sense of endlessness. Here, it is not ruggedness that prevails, but an elevated calm. You do not drive through a backdrop – you glide through it, above the tree line, close to the sky.

On the way to the summit of the Col de l'Iseran

The Iseran feels less heroic than the Galibier, but all the more sublime; a pass that does not overwhelm, but uplifts.

The majestic summit of the Col de l'Iseran

In the afternoon, we will drive via the Cormet de Roselend, the Col de Méraillet and the Col de la Tamié, among others, towards the final destination of our road tour: Hotel La Roche**** in Beaufort.

Cormet de Roselend

Beaufort is a charming and authentic setting to conclude the Tour des Alpes 2026. Nestled among the high peaks of the Savoie, this alpine village combines character, tranquility and breathtaking scenery. After days of legendary mountain passes and panoramic driving, it offers the perfect place to slow down, celebrate the journey and enjoy a memorable finale.

Hôtel La Roche

Hotel La Roche**** is a refined and welcoming place to bring the Tour des Alpes 2026 to a perfect close. Recently renovated, this four-star hotel blends contemporary comfort with genuine Alpine character. Its peaceful setting, excellent cuisine and wellness facilities create an ideal environment to unwind, reflect on the journey and enjoy a memorable final evening in the mountains. The omnipresent wooden floors and timber ceilings create a warm, authentic atmosphere that immediately won us over.

Reservering many, or all, of the rooms in a hotel often means that the rooms can have different sizes and prices.

To allocate the rooms, we use the time of booking. So we start with the first booked person or couple, which we link to the larges or most expensive room. The second entrant gets the second largest room, etc.

If you have chosen for 2 single beds, you will always have a room with 2 single beds, never a room with one large double bed.

However, if you have chosen for a large double bed, you may end up in a room with two single beds, if you were among the later bookers, due to a lack of enough rooms with a large double bed.
